Obsession | Celine A/W 13-14

I don't have a long history in fashion appreciating activities. Correction: I like clothes, but I was never coined the term stylish until about 1 or 2 years ago. 

In third grade, my favourite outfit was a two-toned purple shade Gap long-sleeves with an embellished butterfly, worn inside my baby blue Gap hoodie, and a pair of Gap jeans. I thought I was pretty cool, only to find out later in photos that I looked like a has-been child model. In year 8, mum liked to dress me up in Anna Sui and Armani Exchange. Now, thinking back, these two brand are not exactly on my list of favourite designer brands, the adult me proposes them to be a tad tacky. And how did they look on the 13 year-old me? I could only say that the next time those clothes get to see the light, it will probably be in my 30s. 

As for now, I fortunately got a tiny bit better with my dressing, however I guess that head-to-toe Gap- wearing dork is still hiding somewhere in my blood. And my amateur list of favourite designer's house (which I would like to endorse myself head-to-toe in) includes the likes of Chanel, Miu Miu, Alexander Wang, Derek Lam, Kenzo, Opening Ceremony, JW Anderson and Celine.

Celine, oh Celine. How I adore thee.

I would like to think that Phoebe Philo is one of the most talented designers of our generation. Her clean and modernistic design, the play with volume and materials, as well as the use of cool-tone colours, all in all gave us a brand that re-defines the word chic. 

As the first post of the A/W 13-14 review series, here are some of my favourite runway looks from the new Celine RTW collection.

I like how the model looked like she was on a grocery run. The fluffiness of the bag and the pink coat makes me want to jump straight into a bubble bath.

nice volume, the material of the dress also reminds me of those non-woven textiles we used to play with during art class. Bonus points for childhood memories.

Cute! All she needs now is a giant poodle like the one on the old Burberry show. It's a very "rainy day" outfit. I love it.

I can see myself in this already.

The Jacket (AHH)

Elegant and a classic Celine shape.

sleek, and textures! I also like the cut-off point of the trousers, which is right above the boots, real nice proportioning of the body.

Also, did you see the cute chokers? I'm in love. On the other hand, the make-up of the season is nice and simple, with the use of nude, natural bronze and orange. Think brows are still in too. I think I'll enjoy next winter very much.

Travel | Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia

I've been to K.K. for more than a couple of times now since my family has a holiday house over there that we tend to visit at least once a year (our beagle stays there too).

K.K. is a beautiful city with the friendly people and amazing street food. Recently, there is new tortilla place opened up by a guy from Chicago. It's a really neat joint, colourful graffiti and skeletons and all that. Of course, their tortilla was equally amazing, however I was too hungry to even stop for a photo.

The owner told me that he's staying in K.K. for another year. Given the fast-changing business environment of the city, hopefully when I return next year for holiday, Chiwawa will still be up and running at the mercy of our Mexican appetite.
